Talked about Mary Rhodes who was a math genius or as they called them during World War II then "computer" or "human computer" involved in decrpytion at Bletchley Park (England) before she became a needlework designer and writer who designed a number of stitches named after her. We learned the Rhodes Stitch, then due to user interest went on to Hilton Stitches (invented by Jean Hilton) which build on Rhodes stitches. We started on the Walnetto Stitch (or possibly a variation)
The slide are essentially just images and stitch diagrams for discussion. (Includes a list of links to more diagrams.)
We also passed around one of Mary Rhodes' books and Teach Yourself Needlepoint by Jo Ippolito Christensen which has a picture and chart of a circuit in needlepoint (from a postage stamp.)
